Description
In a series first broadcast in 2001, Madness singer Suggs tells the story of the record label on which his band enjoyed many hits. The maverick label created in London in 1976 by entrepreneurs Dave Robinson and Andrew Jakeman also released the UK's first punk records and provided a home for misfits such as Ian Dury and the Blockheads, Lene Lovich, The Pogues, Devo and many more. Stiff had billed themselves as "The World's Most Flexible Record Label". Other slogans were "We came. We saw. We left." and "If it ain't Stiff it ain't worth a fuck.
