The Kinks influence on Madness...

Description
From The Kinks to Madness! From the Village Green Preservation Society to The Small channel and Fall! The class of the pop British! For a long time, one associates The Kinks and Madness, in their approach of the texts, of the subjects tackled in the songs, their way of speaking about people, of telling stories, their description of certain characters, speaking about great subjects without seeming to touch there, by the means of ordinary people. In addition, apart from their very English side, one can find bcp other common points between these 2 groups: the 2 come from the north of London and give the characters and with their district a great importance... Regardez the clip of Dead End Street and that of It must Be coils! January 8, 2008, in the docu of Paul Morley "Pop what is it good for?" diffused on the BBC 4, Suggs, singer of Madness, evoked the importance which Kinks had on Madness and more particularly it speaks about Lola, one of great successes of Kinks. Since 79 Madness takes again Lola, into 2005 their recovery is finally lying on the album the Dangermen sessions. This song of Kinks evokes the transsexuality, precisely the meeting of the narrator and a transsexual in a club with Soho. (to be noted that the face B, Berkeley Mews, are superb also!)

Dammers Speaks About Ghost Town

Description
Ghost Town echoes a very bleak portrayal of England in the early 80’s (the Thatcher years!) Here is a little insight into the song which turned out to be the last record produced by the Specials (the original line up). 25 years later, Jerry Dammers talks about the song, the techniques, the agreements and subject...

Prince Buster Live (2003)

Description
Live concert on the 7th of February of 2003 in Bayside Jenny, Osaka, Japan. The pioneer of ska Prince Buster with the Japanese band ska the Determinations play "One Step Beyond" subject very known by cover made by Madness, to which they turned a classic into their own and identified them throughout the decade of the 80s. The idolising of them towards the Prince Buster was so that the name of the band 'Madness' was taken from the collection of Buster, and its first great success "The Prince" is obvious to that was a tribute no?

Toots and the Maytals - Live in Paris (1995)

Description
Toots and the Maytals, originally called simply The Maytals, are one of the best known ska and reggae vocal groups. Their sound is a unique, original combination of gospel, ska, soul, reggae and rock.
Toots and the Maytals' compositions would be given a second airing in 1978-80 during the reggae-punk and ska revival period in the UK, when The Specials included "Monkey Man" on their 1979 debut album and The Clash produced their version of "Pressure Drop". They were also included in the Bob Marley and the Wailers song, *Punky Reggae Party". "The Wailers will be there, The Damned, The Jam, The Clash, The Maytals will be there, Dr. Feelgood too".

Laurel Aitken & Friends - Live At Club Ska

Description
The first ever DVD to feature one of the all time greats of Ska music – The Godfather Of Ska – Laurel Aitken. Laurel Aitken was Jamaica's first real recording star. He was a pioneer in many other respects as well: he was one of the first artists ever to release a ska record, the first to work at promoting his music in the U.K., and one of the first to record for the seminal Island label. Aitken recorded numerous hits for a variety of labels over the years, enjoying his heyday during the '60s. His continued presence in the U.K. made him an elder statesman to the Two Tone ska revival movement of the punk era, and he continues to tour even into the new millennium. “Laurel Aitken & Friends – Live At Club Ska” is the definitive, two-disc, Laurel Aitken release, containing two full shows featuring a wealth of names from the Ska scene. When Laurel fell ill in 2004, the cream of the Ska scene performed a benefit show in his honour, with the likes of Prince Buster, Duke Vin, Steve Harris, Gaz Mayall and Dennis Alcapone covering songs made famous by Laurel along with some classic Ska standards. Most of the participants also agreed to be interviewed, and some of that footage is included also. Fortunately, Laurel recovered and was able to perform a show of his own in January 2005. Joined by fellow Ska legend Rico and watched by an invited audience of Ska luminaries, Laurel was back on classic form, performing many of hits best loved songs including “Sally Brown”, “Skinhead” and “Swing Easy”. Laurel and Rico, along with many others, were also interviewed at the gig, and that footage is included along with a photo gallery of the day. With nearly four hours of footage across two discs, “Laurel Aitken & Friends – Live At Club Ska” is a must have for Laurel’s many fans and followers around the world.
